FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What are impulse responses (IRs)?
Impulse responses capture the sound of a guitar cabinet, microphone and mic position. They allow you to recreate that cabinet sound inside an amp modeller, plugin or IR loader without using the physical cab.
What do your packs include?
Full Cab Pack
- All speakers
- All microphones
- All mic positions
- Raw and Baked versions

What is the difference between Raw and Baked?
Raw
- Unprocessed cabinet response
- Best if you want to shape the tone yourself
Baked
- Subtle resonance control
- Smoother starting point
- Designed for quick mix-ready tones
Baked IRs are primarily intended for single IR use. If you are blending multiple IRs together, the Raw versions are usually the better foundation.
What format are the IR files?
- 48kHz
- 24-bit
- 500ms WAV files
Are the demos using Raw or Baked IRs?
Unless otherwise stated, all demos use the Raw IRs.
No EQ or compression is applied directly to the guitars in the mix.
How do I load the IRs?
Most devices follow a similar process:
- Download and unzip your pack
- Open your IR loader or amp modeller
- Import the WAV file
- Assign it to a cab or IR block
If you're working in a DAW and need an IR loader plugin, we recommend:
- Pulse 2 by Lancaster Audio — excellent free IR loader
- Cabinetron by 3BodyTech — advanced commercial IR loader
Both work well with most amp sim plugins.
What devices are your IRs compatible with?
Our IRs work with most gear and software that supports 48kHz WAV impulse responses, including many:
- hardware amp modellers
- amp simulator plugins
- IR loader plugins
- DAW convolution loaders
Check your device manual to confirm supported formats. But most of them have a batch load function that takes care of the conversion for you.
Do I need an amp sim or modeller?
Yes.
Impulse responses capture the cabinet and microphone, not the amplifier.
You will need one of the following:
- a hardware modeller
- an amp sim plugin
- a real amplifier with a load box / IR loader setup
Why are some options greyed out when selecting packs?
Full Cab Pack
You receive all speakers and microphones for that cabinet, so you don't need to choose a mic.
Speaker Pack
You select the speaker and receive all microphones for that speaker, so you don't need to choose a mic.
Mic Pack
You select both the speaker and microphone.
Which IR should I start with?
A good starting point is:
- a familiar microphone
- Position 2 (Mid)
- the Raw version
If you want a faster mix-ready starting point, try the Baked version.
Why do the mic positions sound different?
Each microphone includes three positions:
- Bright
- Mid
- Dark
These provide practical tonal variation so you can choose what works best for your guitar, amp and mix. The easiest way to hear these differences in in high gain guitar tone.
Can I blend these IRs?
Yes. Raw IRs are ideal for blending multiple microphones together.
Baked IRs are generally intended for single IR use rather than stacking multiple IRs.
Can I use these IRs in commercial music?
Yes.
You can use these IRs in recordings, releases, productions and live rigs.
You may not redistribute, resell or share the IR files themselves.
Do you offer refunds?
Because these are digital downloads, refunds are generally not available once files have been delivered.
If you experience a technical issue, contact support and we will help resolve it.
Why do your demo clips use the same riff?
Using the same riff allows you to hear the differences between speakers, microphones and positions clearly without the playing affecting the comparison.
